Download anything you want to keep
Koru offers temporary conversations, not a permanent chat archive. Use Download chat PDF to keep your conversation, or Final lesson plan Word to review and download an editable lesson plan. Download before the one-hour period ends.
Once a chat expires or is cleared, we cannot restore it for you through EDUAI Connect. A downloaded file remains on your device until you delete it.
Return to Meet Koru →The one-hour browser history
Successful questions and replies, together with your lesson-plan draft, are saved in this browser using local storage. The expiry is renewed for 60 minutes after each successful reply. Editing a lesson-plan draft or refreshing the page does not extend that time. There is no user account, so history does not follow you to another browser or device.
The open page checks expiry and clears its saved copy. If you close the page, the expired data is rejected and removed when you next visit; browsers do not run this website’s deletion timer while the page is closed. Browser backups or device recovery tools are outside this website’s control.
Anyone using the same browser profile may see an unexpired conversation. Use Clear chat on shared computers. Clearing removes this browser’s saved copy and its active server session, but does not remove files already downloaded or copies in other browsers or tabs. Refresh other open tabs after clearing.
What the chat server processes
Your message passes through our server to OpenAI to generate a response. To support follow-up questions, the server keeps a limited recent conversation context in temporary memory for up to 60 minutes of inactivity. Expired sessions are excluded from new requests and removed by a periodic cleanup while the service runs. Restarting the service also removes this temporary context, so saved browser messages do not guarantee that Koru can still recall the conversation.
Our application does not write chat transcripts to its database or provide a permanent chat archive, transcript backup, or recovery feature. This is different from saying that the server never handles chat text: it must process your messages and recent context to answer.
Cookies, usage limits and operational records
A temporary secure, HttpOnly, same-site session cookie contains a random session identifier, not your conversation text. It connects follow-up requests to temporary server context and expires after one hour unless renewed by a reply. Browser local storage holds the temporary history and draft; session storage can briefly hold a prompt transferred from the Prompt Bank.
Koru permits 20 messages per IP address per day. A school or household sharing an IP address shares the allowance. Raw IP addresses are used transiently by the application to manage requests; daily pseudonymous identifiers and usage counts are stored for up to seven days during normal operation. Cleanup runs while the backend is active and on startup. These identifiers are not chat transcripts. Clearing history does not reset the message allowance.
The usage database also retains aggregate monthly API-cost accounting, without conversation text. Application error logs record limited technical failure information, not the message body. Hosting, network and provider services can have separate operational records; this notice does not promise that all infrastructure data disappears after one hour.
Your downloaded files
The chat PDF includes the saved successful questions and replies, EDUAI Connect website promotion, page numbers and a website watermark. The Word download contains only the lesson-plan title and final text you review and approve, not the full conversation. These files are created in your browser without an additional OpenAI request.
You are responsible for the storage, security, sharing, backup and deletion of downloaded files. Downloads are not encrypted by this application and are not automatically deleted after an hour. They may remain in Downloads, device backups or cloud-sync folders. Check their contents and remove private information before sharing. We do not keep a downloadable copy for recovery.
Review before classroom use
Koru can make mistakes. Check accuracy, fairness, copyright, language and suitability for your learners before using or sharing an answer. Keep professional teacher judgment at the centre of your decisions.
